I had the idea to create a subject called Ethicology.
Ethocology is, of course, would be the study of ethics, morals, etiquettes, and
even wisdoms. It will also indirectly
explore sociology, psychology, government, and perhaps economics. The subject
would primarily explore the ethics and morals deriving from Christianity, Greek
philosophy (primarily focusing on Pluto), Confucius philosophy, Buddhism, as
well as briefly exploring other world religions to compare. The course will
also explore cultural diversity by using Japanese etiquettes to explore
alternative and different lifestyle ethics that is unfamiliar to ones own. This
is to shift their learning perspective into a new and productive mindset which
will alter the student’s behavior and mental processes. Further into the
course, the course will deal with personal growth, emphasis of the importance
of family, personal integrity, personal growth, critical thinking, and even
personal finance. The course will also talk about forms of government and government
cycles also deriving from Plato’s philosophy. The academic of the course will mainly
focus on critical thinking, personal analysis, and in general,
thinking-outside-the-box. It’s a course that require very little homework. One
of the main activities or course projects is to create a civilization of your
own and using government models a person will have to think and explore how
they can guarantee the survival of that civilization with the main challenge to
keep its citizens productive and prosperous. This activity will explore fictional
and real-event economic and civil situations; explore how a government model
changes over time; the positives and negatives of culture, and what laws and
ethical decisions are necessary for the functionality of their system. In
essence it’s a civilization simulation. Then we will use this in correspondence
to a short explanation of world history and how the world has become the way it
is today and how the world has overcome the challenges faced corresponding to
the challenges faced in the civilization simulation project. Another interesting
homework for this course is researching and finding quotes of wisdom from
people of all walks of life.
Now I’m sure the question being asked is what is the purpose
of Ethicology? What does it hope to achieve? Much like any other science,
Ethicology is overall the study of humanity and it’s sustainability. For this,
it’s necessary to explore ethics, morals, etiquettes so that solutions can be
thought out for the survival and harmony of the human race. Nevertheless, the primary
purpose of the course is personal integrity and growth. The following narrative
is to change the average mind into a mind that is curious about life and
learning, thinks productively and critically, promotes a harmonious environment,
and promote a collective/cooperative filial social-interaction/ connection with
others as well as respecting individuality (respecting personal differences and
opinions). Furthermore, the farther aimed result of ethicology is to create an ethical government agency that houses philosphers, political and ethical philosophers, and ethical whistle blowers that monitor, report, and debate the government's actions, behaviors, and responses.
If I were to create Ethicology and teach it as a subject, I
would perhaps require students to have the following courses: psychology,
sociology, philosophy, world history, anthropology, and economics. If necessary, I would also
put this course before all the other required courses, because I want this
course to mold a student’s learning experience to where students have a
personal interest and growing desire to learn.
An abstract personal idea I had to add to the course is to
teach them body language and lie detection so that the course can capture their
interest with the narrative of turning them into a super hero with the ability
to learn supernatural body language and lie detection abilities so that they
have to use moral and ethical judgment of how they can use their powers for
good. I think this idea can capture an audience and incentivize them to take
the course.
In conclusion, by the end of this course a student’s vision
of life and each other would be changed forever to where they would be in the
mindset to make a difference in the world, promote harmony and prosperity, and
to look at the world from many perspectives with the personal tools for intellectual
growth and deep critical thinking.
In essence a person starts as a tadpole in a confined area with
a small frame of mind and eventually grows legs, which evolves to the tools necessary
to discover the world for oneself and venture out and explore to learn about
the mysterious world around them.
