Are we living in a simulation?

I agree with Elon Musk, it is a good possibility that we could be living in a simulation. In addition to his argument, perhaps people, an entity/ entities, or force might have progressed far beyond human understanding (perhaps dimensionaly) to create a reality to which we see today. Could it be reasonable to say that because there are physics to which we understand means we are in a level of dimension to which we have control over or that we have the potentiality to understand (unlike animals who are unaware of the full extent of their surroundings)? Could this be evidence of a simulation? Could the idea that we have a soul/ consciousness be evidence of something related to living in a simulation. Elon's argument is very interesting and it opens up the possibility for philosophical reasoning and scientific exploration.

A strange concept is it would suck to be a civilization being harvested for energy to power someone's headlights.
